Stand as President

The President is the highest civil figure in Alderney and is appointed by the electorate of Alderney for a four-year term.

The three main, distinct roles of Alderney's President are:
Representing Alderney within the Bailiwick and in the wider world.
Ensuring that Government processes operate for the benefit of Alderney.
Encouraging lively, robust and respectful political debate.
It is important the President carries out these duties while remaining politically neutral.
The pages below offer prospective candidates further information on the role and responsibilities of being President and to help prepare for the demands of taking up office.
Pre-Election Period Guidance has been published for candidates which gives clear advice on the dos and don'ts throughout the pre-election period.
